Eleven cadets recently completed a Naval Cadet Instructors’ Course hosted by the Maritime Operations and Training Department (MOTD) of the Trinidad and Tobago Cadet Force. The course’s goal was to qualify Able Rates in the art of teaching specific subject areas within the naval cadet training syllabus.
Commencing in September 2016, the course was instructed by Training Fleet of the MOTD Fleet Chief Petty Officer (FCPO) David Semper. FCPO Semper has contributed to the Cadet Force’s naval training program from inception, and joined the adult staff of the Cadet Force after retiring from active duty in the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
During the course the cadets were tasked with conducting various classes at the Manzanilla, Holy Faith Convent, Bon Air and Mucurapo watches (units).
These instructors came from both the Mucurapo and Bon Air watches.
The participants of the course, consisted 11 successful instructors: seven (7) from Mucurapo Secondary School (1TTCF) and four (4) from Bon Air high School (7TTCF).
