Private Dempster Boxes His Way to National Glory!

On Sunday 6th November, Pvt Moses Dempster (Success/Laventille Secondary School Platoon/1TTCF) boxed his way to national glory, becoming the Junior Boys Under 60kg Champion. Private Dempster is a member of the national boxing team, and has been involved in boxing for the past two years.

Late last year, he won the 2 qualifiers, and was chosen to compete in Guyana as member of the Trinidad Contingent. There he won the silver medal at the ‘Back to the Future’ Development Boxing Tournament in Guyana.

On 5th Nov, 2016 he continued his winning ways, overcoming his opponents in two qualifiers, and advancing to the National Championship on Sunday 6th Nov, 2016 in Marabella, Trinidad.

Having taken top honours in the national competition, he is not resting. Later this year, he will go to Barbados to once again represent the country at the Caribbean Games.

The seventeen year old cadet, a resident of the Sea Lots community, is a participant of the Fighting Chance and Spoken Word programme where he is mentored by his coaches, Mr. Cox and Mr. Sinnette

Pvt. Dempster is raised by his mother Cynthia Dempster who is currently very ill. His sisters Shinelle and Josanne have now adopted the role of guardian.
